SLAPPA Hardbody CD Cases
Sometimes
its the little things that mean a lot. Take SLAPPAs HardBody CD cases, for
instance. When it comes to something so basic, youd think there wouldnt be
much to comment on -- but if you think that, you probably havent had to actually use
a CD case. Most of them are disasters waiting to happen to your CDs. Almost all of them
make it awkward to load and unload discs -- the tight grip that keeps a CD from falling
out also invites scratched surfaces. And most of em make you sacrifice disc capacity
if you like to tote around your insert booklets as well. That might seem a minor
inconvenience, but I cant tell you how many times Ive had to sit patiently as
a fellow audiophile sampled track after track, mumbling "Maybe its the next
track Im looking for," because the CDs label side didnt list the
discs tracks.
Thats why I love my SLAPPA HardBody Graphite 240 case
($49.99 USD). It has a molded shell that zips closed, and the best pocket system Ive
ever used. The bottom part of each two-part pocket nestles the CD tenderly between two
pieces of soft, velvet-like fabric, and the outer part has a clear plastic pouch that lets
you see the insert booklets artwork. Now I can tote around 120 CDs and their
booklets in one hand. As if that werent thoughtful enough, a mesh pocket on the
inside of the front cover allows me to stash cables, power supplies, or other travel
necessities.
The SLAPPA HardBody Graphite 240 isnt a revolutionary
audio product. Its just a thoughtful, well-designed one that Im happy to have
encountered. If youre looking for a travel case to take your music with you on your
summer vacation (or a busmans holiday to an audio store in a different city), SLAPPA
probably has what youre looking for.
